GRRRL Music is, first and foremost, a community built from a shared love for music. Alongside that, it is a dedicated platform for discovering and uplifting young and upcoming artists - and it’s run by two best friends.

Do you remember the first conversation you had together about starting GRRRL Music? When did the idea first get put forward?
GRRRL Music was born from Kelsey's original idea right after college, fueled by her passion for radio broadcasting. However, life's demands caused the project to be set aside until the unexpected arrival of the pandemic. Recognizing the opportunity in this moment, Kelsey and Ashley, both music enthusiasts, decided to launch a podcast and fully commit to GRRRL. Fast forward to today, after two and a half years of dedicated work, GRRRL has blossomed into an incredible community for music marketing, PR, and music lovers alike.
What was the original intention for the organization, and how has it changed since?
The original intention was for us to just have fun talking about music on a podcast. Now it has become a consulting company and an incredible community for artists and music lovers alike!
You both have some similarities in your music taste, but also some significant differences. Is this something that is important to the range of music that you, as an organization, bring to people’s attention?
100%!! We love our music taste differences… We call them “tiff diffs”. Music is subjective and we find that it makes our company more unique because we really talk about music from every genre.
Up and coming artists are evidently at the core of GRRRL Music, what role do you think up and coming artists play in the wider music space?
Up and coming artists play a vital role in the wider music space. They bring fresh perspectives, new sounds, and innovative ideas to the industry.
How do you seek out new talent?
We find a ton of talent in our inbox! We get about 40-50 emails a day with new music from PR companies to the artist themselves. It’s awesome! There are many other ways we find new artists through Tiktok, Instagram, when attending festivals, on Spotify, etc.!
Newer artists are, like some seasoned artists, undoubtedly still trying to figure out their own style and sound. What role would you like GRRRL Music to play in this early process with fresh artists?
We offer consulting services! Grrrl Music offers PR, Branding, and Social packages to help get artists started off on the right foot. We also promote, playlist and do a ton of interviews for artists for FREE. Hoping to help get their music out to the public anyway we can!
Friendship is a huge pillar of GRRRL Music. What other values would you like it to be defined by?
In addition to friendship, GRRRL Music can be defined by several other values that align with its mission and vision.
Empowerment: GRRRL Music aims to empower up-and-coming artists by providing them with a platform and opportunities for growth and recognition. It focuses on promoting diversity, inclusivity, and supporting artists in expressing their unique voices.
Creativity: GRRRL Music celebrates and fosters creativity in the music industry. It encourages artists to push boundaries, explore new sounds, and take risks, ultimately contributing to the innovation and evolution of music.
Community: GRRRL Music believes in the power of community and the strength that comes from collaboration and support. It seeks to build a community of music lovers, artists, and industry professionals who uplift and inspire each other.

Your digital platform shares every aspect of music from music videos, songs (obviously), concert photographs, and backstage interviews. Which element of music do you find portrays the artist best, and why?
Ohhh, this is a hard question! Each aspect of music portrays artists differently. Probably the most important is backstage interviews. It shows off the artist's personality which draws new listeners in.
What would you like GRRRL Music to become?
GRRRL Music aims to become a dynamic empire, growing our community into something truly special. Our plans include taking GRRRL on the road with pop-up events nationwide, and developing an educational series to empower independent artists with PR knowledge. We aspire to redefine the industry, fostering inclusivity, creativity, and connection.
